The exterior that we carry around dressed in smiles and laughter and goodwill defines us
Our gifts of love and charity show that we really care
Cherished friendships blossom as we admire our friends’ success
Together we enjoy the fruits of others’ labour always praising
We are a joy to be with and a BFF to many always giving of ourselves
But then the night comes and the things others have that we don’t start to eat at our being
The demon of envy takes no prisoners
We look around for ways to vent our spleen and we find them
They are the ones who love us even more than we love ourselves
They are a soft target and our darts don’t miss
They never miss
